Crowns & Bridges

Many times a tooth that has decayed and been filled many times just cannot support a filling any longer. When this occurs, often the choice is a crown. Think of a crown as a "Cast" for a broken tooth, similar to a cast for a broken arm. This supports the tooth and allows you to continue to use the tooth despite it being weak. There are now many types of crowns that we use, depending upon the strength needed, the cosmetics desired and what the crown will chew against. We will discuss the needs and options with you and help you decide what is best.

A bridge is often a way to replace a missing tooth so that the result is a FIXED solution, not one that can be removed. This allows for more comfort and more security when you chew and speak in front of people. The choices of the materials for a bridge are similar to the choices with a crown. Usually a crown or bridge can be constructed in only two visits and placed within a short time frame. They provide years of service and are a very common procedure here at Sullivant Dentistry.
